Priesthood Worship
By Rick Jones
Last month Al Mount presented a very timely message, presenting his Christian challenges facing the political strife that seems to permeate the air we breathe today. I found myself connecting with many of the same emotions (if not all), that Al was sharing with us as Priesthood members. I haven’t asked Al for permission, but I would like to piggyback on his thoughts from last month. I know that Al is a very forgiving sort, and I am relying on this knowledge as I move forward.
Recently, I was privileged to come into possession of a video lecture by Dr. Wayne Dyer, that struck a nerve with me and I thought is should share this information with you.
Dr. Dyer presented the following…..
“In every person, each one of us, their exists 2 people. The first person is the EGO (Earth Guide Only). This person says who I am is separate. Separate from God, separate from my environment, separate from you. Therefore, I am in competition with you, and therefore my value is based on how much I’m worth, how much stuff I have, how much better looking I am, how much smarter I am, and my value as a person is based on what is mine. It is the lower level of consciousness that is my EGO.
Also, in each one of us is another person. The Sacred Self, or The Spiritual Self, or some refer to it as our Soul. Our Spiritual Self doesn’t care how much stuff you have, it doesn’t care what you look like, it doesn’t care about any of that stuff.
The problem we face is we pay more attention to the EGO, and not to the Spiritual Self. The Spiritual Self only wants to be at peace, it wants above all wants you to make the choice that gives you Joy. But, the Ego Self says OH NO! It is much more important to be right. And, so we find ourselves struggling in our relationships trying to establish who is right and who is wrong.
Most of our conflicts are about who is right and who is wrong. Forget the details, WHO IS RIGHT!
The Spiritual Self says that in our life being KIND is far better than being right. The Spiritual self says, focus on the love you have as opposed to being right. In all your interactions, if you follow your EGO, it will introduce to stress, anxiety, and fear.
Suppressing our EGO and aligning ourselves with our Spiritual Self is the way we can find incredible PEACE.”
Most of you have heard the Serenity Prayer. It goes as follows:
God grant me the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The Courage to change the things I can,
& the Wisdom to know the difference
Especially true today is the knowledge that if all of us, all politicians, all reporters, and all of us voters, would listen to our Spiritual Self the sound of PEACE would be deafening.
We are all called to be in this world not of it. We can’t change anyone but ourselves. We can do that. We can seek Kindness. We can experience PEACE.
