The Core Premise of the Book: In The Sin of Certainty, biblical scholar Peter Enns argues that modern Western Christianity has made a grave mistake by equating “faith” with “intellectual certainty.” He suggests that the modern church has created a culture where having the “right” answers and defending rigid theological boundaries has become an idol. Enns proposes that God does not want our flawless theology; rather, God wants our enduring trust, especially when life makes certainty impossible.
